CAPE Science

On With The Wind is a hands-on engineering challenge focused on renewable energy and harnessing the power of the wind.  First, we'll discuss our energy dependency and the importance of renewability.  Then we'll look at the design of a wind turbine and it's specific characteristics to achieve maximum efficiency.  The rest of the class will be a workshop environment where students build their own turbine blades.  Emphasizing the aspects of collaboration and trial-and-error in the engineering process, students will have the opportunity to revise their designs, testing along the way to see which model generates the most electrical energy!
